hi

I'm getting error messages when users try and bring their data offline in
CRM and I was hoping some one could help.
Whenever a user updates a field then chooses go offline the following
appears (depending on what record was modified)
when I go to “work off line” it says “Failed move data for entity
‘Opportunity Close’ during action salnsert, countRows=1.

update:
we did a reinstallation and it worked
They felt on the phone that it was an ssue with the compatability with some
3rd [part software which integrated with the previous version of CRM
however 3.0 is icompatable with the product and can not be on the same server
as CRM requires the initial default port settings for IIS (such as the
default web site being assigned to all unasigned addresses, only using port
80, and no host header)

We received this similar error:
"Failed move data for entity 'Organizational UI' during action salnsert,
countRows=263" and tried uninstalling and reinstalling CRM and its related
components and we continue to receive the error when going offline.

Anyone have any ideas?

Yes and no. MS wanted us to run a repair on the CRM server however we didn't
have a chance to run it. The issue seemed to have fixed itself for some
reason.

Did you upgrade from 1.2 to 3.0 or is this a fresh install?

Hello

Thank you for the reply.
Yes we did an update from 1.2 to 3.0

It's very strange because we have the same problem on all laptop clients.
I really do not understand what can cause this error.
You have any clue on how I could handle this problem?

I've installed 3.0 fresh. I've also reinstalled it completely but still get
this on all laptops. How did MS tell you to do a repair?

Thanks!

MS stated to run a repair using the CRM 3.0 server installation CD.
Basically it will run a repair on the CRM server DB however I am not sure I
fully trust this method. My biggest concern is a repair may wipe out
customizations or even data however MS stated it wouldn't.

It's a risk you will need to consider. If you have a test environment setup
I'd test a repair there first before repairing the production server.

A repair won't do anything to your DB, it will only update the code on the
web server.

I ran a repair (All data and customizations are fine). However, this didn't
fix the problem. I am still getting the error when outlook clients try to go
'offline'

What next :( MS; any ideas???

Thanks!

There could be several reasons for those failures.
First, check on CRM server "Administrative Tools/Data Sources (ODBC)/System
DSN tab/Microsoft CRM" is configured properly.
Second, for failed entity CRM metadata for an attribute length or
IsNullable are different from SQL metadata.

happens when you go offline and is only effecting 2 out of 20
computers??? Any ideas?

I'd check to make sure users are in the following group in AD:
ReportingGroup, UserGroup. I have found users missing from these groups on
occasion.

Another thing I'd check are the CRM permissions. Microsoft hasen't released
any security mapping so you have to guess which perms need to be enabled and
which don't. It's highly unproductive however it's good training. I found
most "Miscellaneous Privileges" need to be enabled to have full functionality.

Hopefully MS will release a security mapping this year.
