I get this also. The restricted access isn't checked for the user. I can
access it using IE.

I saw a post that this was due to an office update? Any updates or
suggestions? Has anyone worked this through??

Thanks!

Do you have any CRM Add Ons? If you have any, try the follow instruction:

1) Go to the _Resources folder in the installation directory of
Microsoft CRM 3.0 and open the isv.config.xml.

2) The first line should be

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='Windows-1252'?>

3) Delete this first line and save the isv.config.xml

4) Open Outlook again.
This was the solution for my problem.

Best regards
Andreas

I had been having the same problem, and I did everything recommended at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916165/en-us
except repairing the crm installation. I didn't alter the isv file like you
suggested below.

Based on the error in the event viewer, I realized that I had added a field
in the Leads entity which on one Lead had the maximum number of characters in
it. It was an ntext field with 5,000 characters. I deleted it & everything
synched fine.

I don't know if that will help anyone else, but thought I'd let you know.

Aami,
Thanks for that. I checked your post at:
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/newsReader.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.crm.deployment&tid=e09f5c37-7e90-41ae-bdd9-01a3a566952c&lang=en&cr=US&m=1&p=1

and I downloaded the hotfix, but that password doesn't work. I don't
necessarily need it for the time being, as my problem was fixed, but thought
I'd install it anyway to try it.

The password doesn't work though. I was just posting to save others the
time of finding which post you had which addressed the hotfix. Also, would
any Microsoft employees care to explain why we can download the GP
Integration & other stuff without a password to install it, but we need one
for this? Also, why isn't this put in the regular downloads section.

I'd love to see one place that has all the downloads & knowledgebase issues,
instead of having to search the newsgroup, look in the sandbox, go to
customersource, or look at technet. It would save a lot of time for a lot of
people.

mention the KB no and ask for password......they usually change the
password after 7 days.

I am having the same problem - this is only happening on one out of 80
installs but it will not let the person access. Will this hotfix help? If
not does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks,

I had the same problem. However, I could get it going on all my other
machines accept this one. Did all the steps in KB, recomendations by MS Tech
Support, rebuilt my machine, etc. etc.

Crazy enough, it was the Role. I switched it to whatever the other users
where using, and the error went away and I'm back in business.
