Dear Sir or Madam,
I¡¯m so sorry to trouble you with my software problems.
This time is that, my Microsoft Outlook seems not so
smooth, it just cannot run frequently, I mean, it cannot
be opened. Occasionally, even it can be opened, it would
still close the Outlook window automatically right after
I maximize it. But some lucky times, it can run as
normal. There always be a failure message, the failure
message showed me a link button to send the data to
somewhere; I guess it probably was the Microsoft Office
support center or something. The message showed the
details as below:
´íÎóÇ©Ãû
AppName:outlook.exe AppVer:9.0.0.2416
ModName:outllib.dll ModVer:9.0.0.3011 Offset:001e1cae
I clicked the button and sent it out for several times,
even I used more than two hours to update the Office
System with ¡°Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1¡±on
line, but it didn¡¯t work out anyway!
Furthermore, I don¡¯t understand why there¡¯s a long
sound exist while my computer is turned off, the
condition is, there¡¯s a short sound when it¡¯s turned on
which showed it¡¯s normal.
Would you please help me solve the problems? Thank you
for your kindness!
Regards,
Kanxie Kwan
Step 1
======
Let's recreate the outcmd.dat file. Outcmd.dat stores any custom changes we
make to
the toolbar options. If renaming this file solves the problem, we need to
recreate
any toolbar customizations. Let's perform the following steps.
1. Quit Outlook.
2. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
3. In the Named box, type "outcmd.dat" (without the quotation marks).
4. Click to select Include Subfolders, click My Computer, and then click
Find
Now.
5. Click the file name in the results pane, click Rename on the File menu,
type
"old" (without the quotation marks) in place of dat in the filename, and
press
ENTER.
6. Click Close on the File menu to close the Find window.
7. Start Outlook.
Step 2
======
If you have WinFax Pro installed and are using Outlook in the Internet Mail
Only
(IMO) setup configuration, check that your version of WinFax Pro is at least
version 9.03. Information about the latest version of WinFax Pro is
available at
the following Web site:

Step 3
=======
Outlook Express is necessary for Outlook 2000 to function properly. If
Outlook
Express is not installed properly, the problem will occur. If you are using
Internet Explorer 6.0, please uninstall Internet Explorer 6.0 from Control
Panel
--> Add/Remove Programs and reinstall it. For more information about why
Outlook
needs Outlook Express, please refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge
Base (KB)
article:
230076 OL2000: Why Outlook 2000 Requires Outlook Express
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;230076
Step 4
======
Start Outlook with the "safe" switch to see if it works. When Outlook is in
Safe
Mode, add-ins won't be loaded. To run Outlook in Safe Mode, follow the steps
below:
1. On the Start menu, click Run.
2. Input "Outlook.exe /safe" (without the quotation marks) and click OK.
