What does it mean to bridge a connection between to NICs?

I have a cable modem that is set up to work only on my
computer. I want to get the internet on my dad's computer
as well. I have a cable modem, a 5 port switch, 3
ethernet cables, and 3 ethernet cards. I am currently
have it set up so that two of the network cards are in my
computer and the third is in my dad's. The cable modem in
hooked up to my computer while i have a another ethernet
cable going out to the switch. My dad's computer is also
connected to the switch. I have been able to establish a
network between my Dad and I just fine and I get the
internet on my computer. But i can't seem to figure out
how to get the internet on my dad's computer. Please
send me any suggestions you might have.
