I ran the firmware update but am constantly being promted to download and
run the updates.

Every time I run the update process now it shows the following versions
before updating:

Detected Components Current Version Latest Version
MN-500 0.1.11.17 0.1.11.17
MN-510 0.1.1.3 0.1.1.3
Application Software 1.0.0.227 2.0.0.638

After running the updates is says that

Update Results Status
MN-500 Up to date
MN-510 Up to date
Application Software Up to date

In Broadband Network Utility under HELP/ABOUT it says:

Broadband Network Utility Software: 1.0.0.227
Broadband Networking Wireless USB Adapter Driver: 1.31.9.0
Wireless Network Adapter Firmware PDA: 0.1.1.0
Wireless Network Adapter Primary Firmware: 0.1.1.3
Wireless Network Adapter Station Firmware: 0.1.7.1

I was being extremely careful to read every heading and copy the info
correctly.

The software on MY desktop is titled MICROSOFT BROADBAND NETWORK UTILITY,
not "The Broadband Base Station Utility".

And I just started it up to verify the name and by the time I finished the
sentence above a window popped-up and displayed:

MICROSOFT BROADBAND NETWORKING
New updates are ready to install.
Do you want to download them from the website?

The MICROSOFT BROADBAND NETWORK UTILITY on MY desktop does NOT get updated
to version 2 as it should.

I can download the software till the cows come home and do the update
process over and over again as I previously documented. And I am
continuously prompted to download updates.

I have Windows XP Home with all updates.

Changes are only reflected in the Base Station Management Tool when you
first log in. You can enter the BSMT either via the BNU or by going to your
browser and typing in 192.168.2.1 (if you've left it the default). You'll
see the runtime code version, etc., in the Base station information at the
bottom of the home page.

In my documentation I have shown that the update process wants to update
"Application Software" which has a version 1.0.0.227. The MICROSOFT
BROADBAND NETWORK UTILITY current version is 1.0.0.227. It also shows tht
the MN-500 and MN-510 are up to date.

I only get the prompt when the MICROSOFT BROADBAND NETWORK UTILITY is
running. To stop the prompts I have turned off the option to automatically
check for updates.

1. Was there an update for the MICROSOFT BROADBAND NETWORK UTILITY ?

2. Why is the update process trying to download an update that I have
downloaded (many times) and installed (many times) ???

There is an update to the application software and it is supposed to be
updated by the package. Since this package has worked on many other systems,
there must be something different about your system.

Did you change the installation directory?
There should be a log file that contains information about what the update
package is doing. It is stored in the installation folder (by default,
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Broadband Networking) of the software and called
BBNUpdateLog.txt. Please send the file along with the problem description to
hnb...@microsoft.com.

Thanks,

I did not change the installation directory and I just sent the log file.

Thanks, Neel.
