Hi,

I've just switched my cable modem service to 15MB download, and I can get
pretty close to that if I bypass the router. I'm connecting directly from
the router to my ethernet card, so no USB. I've installed the latest
available firmware and software updates for the MN-500, also, I'm running
Windows 2k.
Any ideas about what's causing this?

The MN-500 has a 10 Mbps (Please note that is bits per second) port for
the WAN port. This is a design limitation. So to fully utilize a 15
Mbps connection you will need a router that has a 100 Mbps connection on
the WAN port.

If your question is worth asking, it's worth posting.

If it’s not worth posting you should have done a search on

If I sound hostile or arrogant you need to read the following before
posting a question "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way" at

to just has this article I think people should read before posting a
technical question.)

Thanks for the helpful response Joe. I'm seeing the same behavior. In fact
the fastest speed that I'm able to achieve while setup on a 10 Mbps ISP port
is 6.77 Mbps whereas connected directly to the Rogers Cable modem I'll hit
close to 10.

I'm running the latest firmware Version: V1.11.017. Too bad, this is the
best router I've ever owned. It's been running continuously for NINE YEARS
now without ever having to reset it once!!! I would have to say this is the
best piece of hardware I've ever owned. Not even my Cisco 2611 was as
reliable. I went through two linksys and a d-link prior to buying the MN-500.
I'd love to know who made this piece of hardware for microsoft?
