Hi,

Greetings to all. I am a newbie to Biztalk. I have a
couple of questions about Biztalk-Covast:

I came to know that Covast (www.covast.com) has an EDI
Accelerator that works in concert with Biztalk and adds
functionalities to Biztalk.

Have any of you used Covast along with Biztalk to
design/develop an EDI system? If yes, could you send a
brief description of what does what?. (ie, What is
handled by Biztalk and what is handled by Covast).

Also, I would like to know if we need to convert our data
into XML format to be used by this Combo?

Thanks

Ram:

The Covast EDI Accelerator will be incorporated in the
next version of BizTalk Server.

Covast's Accelerator:

- Provides partner-based EDI trnslation services for
BizTalk Server
- Easily understands most common data formats (EDI, XML,
Delimited, Positional, etc.) but focuses mainly on EDI
- Facilitates communications between trading partners
- Audits, validates and reports on data coming into and
out of the Accelerator
- Handles complex EDI requirements (batching, control
number enforcement, FA generation, etc.)
- Provides utilities for partner-specific processing and
reporting
- No programming required - easy for non-technical staff
to use
- Will serve as the 'EDI Gateway' for BizTalk Server
- Replaces the X12/EDIFACT parsers in BizTalk Server

There is no need to convert your data into XML. BizTalk
Server handles that.

Jack,

Are you referring to BizTalk 2004? If yes - does the beta
include Covast's accelerator?

thx,
Leonard

The EDI support in BTS 2004 will be in parity with BTS 2002. Covast will
still provide a fully feature EDI solution on top of BTS 2004 via their EDI
accelerator. The accelerator isn't part of BTS 2004 and was not in the
beta.

I know this is an old post and I normally don't bash anyone but...

Easy to use for non-technical staff? What??? Have you ever used it? That statement is complete hogwash.
