4-6 years experience; Provides day-to-day support of business application portfolio; Studies existing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new processes to improve production or workflow as required; Works with team to discuss requirements, set expectations and solve problems utilizing standard technologies and tools; Develops applications, integration specifications, test plans, deployment plans and support strategies; Performs gap and/or impact analysis and designs, as appropriate, data updates, application modifications, interfaces and configuration changes; Documents requirements and test plans, provides service-specific expertise and develops high-level system solutions.

The Role
The System Analyst is responsible for enterprise data analysis including data profiling, data collision management, data validation, and data reporting. S/he will conduct detailed analysis of multiple data sources and systems to identify real or potential data integrity and/or quality issues and develop re-usable data reconciliation and clean-up solutions. S/he will work with architects and enterprise service and platform developers and collaborate directly with business partners and application development resources. S/he will be involved in efforts regarding new and existing applications, environments, or processes. S/he will be responsible for writing technical requirements as needed to support identified data quality issues that require development changes. The System Analyst will also own the support and maintenance for production issues, analyzing root causes and assisting in efficient resolution. This will also include the ownership of user manuals, training guides, use cases, and other technical documents related to the ongoing success of the EDM platforms.

Responsibilities

Technology
• Review and analyze multiple complex data sources and document data elements, data flow, relationships and dependencies.
• Profile data sources for accuracy and completeness and collecting statistics and information about the data.
• Accountable to ensure that data is received, complete, accurate and ready for production implementation
• Diagnose process improvements to improve data quality, drive efficiency, and mitigate risk.
• Develop reusable data cleansing and reporting processes
• Data quality reporting, analysis, audits, continuous improvement, and data transforms and controls.
• Partner with decision makers responsible for source data to ensure data quality issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Assist programmers during system development, ex: provide use cases, flowcharts or even database design
• Document technical requirements or contribute to user manuals and create time estimations for work
• Monitor data flows through ETL processes and system absorption / data accuracy/KPIs

Leadership
• Study and recommend technology initiatives that will provide benefits to CLIENT through improvements to processes, systems, skills, etc.
• Objectively and pragmatically assess organizational initiatives and positively influence and supporting change both within and across organizational boundaries with regard to enterprise data management
Educational
• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience

Experience

• 5+ years of increasing experience in IT data analysis, especially related to data-centric
components (such as data sources, data warehouses or data marts, data acquisition), the extraction, transformation and load of data, brokering technologies, and identity management and control
• 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably with substantial exposure to life insurance, annuities, retirement and/or group protection businesses
• High level of expertise with systems requirements development based on business requirements analysis
• High level of expertise in deciphering and translating architectural documents (i.e. data models, macro/micro design specifications, etc.)
• Understanding of documentation process/procedures (i.e. best practices, version control, etc.)
• Strong expertise in with software development lifecycles & methodologies
• Experience with data modeling practices and tools
• Experience with Erwin, Talend Data Quality, Data testing tools (query surge, quality center, etc)
• High level of expertise in documenting systems with SQL, Oracle, web programming and database components
• High level of expertise in documenting systems involving ETL, API services, reporting, warehousing and analytics
• Work with management and development staff to create project estimates (Tier 1-3) Knowledge of Unified Modeling Language (UML)
• Collaboration with IT PMO resources to document and drive tasks at the team-level
• Collaboration with RM resources to validate project components are outlined in build and deployment plans
• Assist developers with unit testing
• Assist in outlining scenarios for functional testing and assist with defect triage during QA/UAT test phases
• Assist in troubleshooting and Production support
