Hi.

I want a shortcut on my XP desktop. It has to open the command prompt
and change the directory a selected one, then WAIT FOR FURTHER
COMMANDS.

As fas as I can see, a batch file will close the command prompt after
it has reached the last command in the file. A pause is no good
because as soon as you start to type a command it will close.

OK, it's sure to be easy but how please? Thanks in advance.

Mike.

Wrong group for batch files.

This group is/was for BASIC running on DOS.

I was looking for something else, and it doesn't seem to be here. But
in answer to a long ago question of yours:

Before the pause - or in place of it, enter CMD (start a command
prompt) - which will open a DOS command line in the window.
