Yes, the bootdisks are everywhere. But I'm looking for the *full*
version!
The site that used to have the full version stoped the downloading
part.
Anyone who has te full version? If so contact me at
usene...@gmail.com (not afraid of spam ;-)
The last official version of "MS-DOS" per se was 6.22, though the Windows 9x
versions (95, 98 & ME) ran on top of an MS-DOS base that installed with
Windows. Either of the Win 9x versions, even Win XP, can create an MS-DOS
boot disk. If you do a VER from the command line, after you boot from them,
they display a Windows version, not an MS-DOS version. However, if you use
interrupt 30H, Get DOS version, they will return version numbers as follows:
7.0 Win 95
7.1 Win 95SE, 98
8.0 Win ME, XP
From this, I assume you are talking about the 'DOS' that comes with Win 95SE
& 98. You could create a "sort-of" complete MS-DOS from Win 9x by formatting
a boot floppy and copying the DOS based utilities (e.g. FIND, SORT, QBASIC,
etc.) from the appropriate Windows directories (C:\WINDOWS and
C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND). However, not all of the MS-DOS equivalent utilities in
those folders will run under the boot DOS without Windows present. And some
of the old MS-DOS utilities are not installed with Windows 9x (e.g. QBASIC).
These files came on the Win 9x install CDs (look for an "OLDDOS" folder),
but were not automatically installed. Very few of the MS-DOS utilities come
with Win XP, so that's not a good option. Most of the remaining utilities
can be downloaded from Microsoft.com as self-extracting file OLDDOS.EXE, if
you can find it (try http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135315). Unfortunately,
the current OLDDOS.EXE does not contain as many programs as it used to (837k
now vs. 1,470k Jan 1999). You could collect the rest of them from an older
MS-DOS disk and use SETVER so they will run. Note: a number of the newer
Windows versions are EXE but were COM in the MS-DOS releases, so bear this
in mind when scanning for missing files. Hope this helps. :-)

Maybe you had PC-DOS from IBM but the last standalone MS-DOS
was 6.22.

Try eBay. You should be able to find Win98 install CD's cheap. Make
sure you get the full install, not the upgrade. And make sure you get
the license card. You need it to install.
I have MS-DOS 7.1 cd and 2 floppies from Wengier's site. Contact me:
mercu...@fastwebnet.it
I can send you all that you want.

After download, please make this file fully valid by adding '00x' to
the end of the file to be able to extract it 100% successfully.
Identical file that is fully valid is available here:
http://msdos7.hit.bg/dosware/dos71scd.zip
Feb 17, 2006 - http://web.archive.org/web/20060217133845/http://www.cn-dos.net/msdos71/dos71cd.zip
file from before cutting off access
Jan 15, 2007 - http://web.archive.org/web/20070115003123/http://zhenlove.com.cn/cndos/msdos71/dos71cd.zip
file from after cut off access
Both dos71cd.zip files are identical except lack of final 00h byte,
but after adding it, they are identical with
http://msdos7.hit.bg/dosware/dos71scd.zip file, thus uncorrupted
again. That proofs, that Wengier didn't updated his DOS 7.10 since
April 5, 2004 and hit.bg site hosts really last ever final version of
it.
http://ms-dos7.hit.bg/dosware/addon/mw311gui.zip
http://ms-dos7.hit.bg/dosware/addon/mw98gui.zip
who can be added to DOS 7.10 CD for easy install.
