Just choosing install on the top-level SQL Server node isn't enough.
You must expand it and select which bits of SQL you want installed.

Does it error in any way? Anything get recorded in the Event log? Have

If you can cancel the installer, I would. Then reboot and try again.
You could also temporarily configure the Exchange services to manual so
that they don't start up. It shouldn't make a difference, but it would
speed up the rebooting while you're working with the SBS installer.

Try it again with things like Exchange and Anti-Virus software shut
down. If that still fails, I think you'll probably have to call
Microsoft Support.
1. Open Services in Administrative Tools. Stop and set the following
services to disabled:
a. Microsoft Exchange System Attendant
b. IIS Admin
c. Microsoft ISA server control.
Note: These services will be set back to automatic later. After all SQL
components desired have been installed (such as Analysis Services or
English Query, which are not installed when the database server is first
installed) reboot the server even if not prompted, then set the three
services above back to automatic and restart the server again.
2. Close all windows on the desktop except Windows Explorer.
3. Insert SBS2000\CD2 into CDROM.
4. Open the folder \SQL2000 on CD2.
5. Double-click on autorun.exe at the root of this folder to launch SQL
2000
setup.
6. Complete the SQL Server installation, answering the questions in the
dialog boxes as appropriate.
7. After SQL has been installed with the desired components, refer to step
one
above and set the disabled services back to automatic and restart the
server.

This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
Then, I logout and login, and reinstall again...., but it reveals the
followings:
****************************************************************************
*************************
Error
Setup initialization error.
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
Source file or directory missing or cannot be read:
'd:\sql2000\x86\setup\..\Binn\sqlsusk.dll'
****************************************************************************
*************************
It is find that the IIS Admin has started. In fact, I have set it to manual
and stopped, but it will return to start at some time.
BTW, instead I put the SBS2000\CD2 into CDROM, I start form SBS2000\CD1.
Hope this does not cause any problem.
Any hints?
