I receive the subject error every two hours. I have done
everything Microsoft recommends:
1. Added the netlogon dependancy in the registry for DNS
2. Ensured that the TCP/IP settings included the "Register
this connection's address in DNS." check-box, and that the
AD Domain Name was included as the suffix for the
connection.
3. Renamed the netlogon.dns and netlogon.dnb files and
restarted the nelogon service.
I still get the error ever two hours, and upon reboot.
Also, I have run DCDIAG and receive no errors.
However, NETDIAG gives me the following error:
DNS test . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Failed
[WARNING] Cannot find a primary authoritative DNS server

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the servernics are both
pointing to 10.0.0.80 for DNS, and the DNS Server is
listening on that same IP. The internal nic is first in
the binding order.
Looking at the DNS Server, I have these records:
1. Start of Authority - (same as parent folder)
2. Name Server - MCKAY01.MCKAY
3. Host - MCKAY01 - 10.0.0.80
Those three records are all I have for the server. There
are other records for my client computers, but only three
for the server. Is this correct?
Again, thanks.

Did you have a look at www.eventid.net for some troubleshooting?

2 and 3 should also mention "same as parent folder" in the Forward Lookup
zone.
In the Reverse Lookup zone, subnet-folder you should have 1 and 2 with "same
as parent folder" and a PTR-record for 3.

Internal Nic
External Nic
IP Address 10.0.0.80 IP on router
subnet or ISP assigned(static)
Subnet 255.255.255.0 Same as above
gateway BLANK IP assigned or
pointing to the router
DNS1 10.0.0.80 10.0.0.80
DNS2 blank blank
Assign forwarders in DNS for nameservers of ISP.
This is assuming the 10.0.0.80 is the internal nic IP if not substitute
whatever the internal nic IP is for the 10.0.0.80.

The one thing I did not see when I read through the postings is does your
forward lookup zone contain the Active Directory folders? I have seen the
similar failure with dcdiag when the zone did not get fully integrated with
the AD. It may pay you to remove the zone, create a new one making sure it
is Active Directory Integrated and if the folders do not appear/reappear
allow time for replication to happen and check again for the folders.
