When I enter the server url (awc1.awc.local) in IE while
at the server, I get a 403 error. Entering
http://localhost will correctly give me the default
website, no problem. If I enter the server IP I'm
prompted for a login, enetering administrator login works
fine. Any troubleshooting pointers would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
SeanD

This info might not be perfect, but it's close and it'll give you a start
since you haven't gotten any other answers. When you use the IP or the
awc1.awc.local address, I suspect that IE is seeing the "dots," and treating
the addressses as external, even though they're not. IE is sending the
request to ISA rather than going straight to the site. For the IP, IE
passes the request to ISA, but ISA recognizes the IP as local, so you get
the password prompt.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing you can do to change this behavior in IE.
If you go to IE Tools/ internet options/ connections/ lan settings/ advanced
and enter the address in "do not use proxy server" you'll get normal access
to the site. Or, just use http://awc1 instead of the full address.

Something bizarre: I have a second server that runs Intranet web sites. If
I enter http://sbs.domain.local, I get the 403 as you do. However, if I
enter http://otherserver.domain.local, I get the default home page for the
IIS site on the second server. Go figure.
