How can I install the SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager to an XP
Pro workstation so I can manage DB's from my desktop
instead of at the SBS server console or Terminal Services
connection? I think the stand-alone SQL has it clearly
separated, but it seems to me that the SBS SQL
installation is integrated with the entire SBS package.

Brian - This is easier than you think. At the workstation, pop in the
Premium Technologies disk from your SBS package. From the menu, click to
install SQL Server 2000. You'll get an error message that SQL can't run on
this OS so only the client tools will be installed. OK by that, and follow
the prompts to install Enterprise Manager and any of the other client tools
you need.

Well, I tried running the main SBS setup from Disk1, but
it fails on not finding an NTFS partition (my laptop's HD
is FAT32) before it ever gets to the SQL installation
options. I do not have a Premium Technologies disk.
I tried running SQL2000 setup directly from its folder on
Disk2, and I can get past the error message about only
allowing client components and as far as the Product key,
but it does not accept the SBS product key.

Thanks. I posted an earlier reply to this when it did not
seem to want to accept the SBS Product Key for the
installation, but I tried another release of SBS 2000, and
it worked fine. I ran it from the SQL2000 folder on Disk2.

Sorry for the misleading response - I gave you an SBS 2003 answer to an SBS
2000 question. Anyway, glad to hear you figured it out in spite of the bad
advice :-)
