Hi all,
I have a client with an SBS 2000 server and a 2003 member server,
They would now like to add an additional full SQL server, what is the best
way to achieve this.
The SBS server itself is not powerful enough to take the SQL as well so SQL
needs to be on a separate box, as this will also be on Server 2003 is this
possible on a member server? else is it time to rethink whole setup here?
Thanks
TT
SBS2000 CALs do not cover additional SQL/Exchange servers in the domain, so
to implement a standalone SQL server you need:
1) A server OS license (it seems you have one of these).
2) An SQL server license.
3) Either 'processor' licensing for SQL or CALs.
and even if you spend all this money you don't get the 'sorta internet
connector for SQL' which comes as part of SBS 2003 (regardless of version)
which allows that SQL to backend a database served by IIS on SBS.
