We have a Windows 2000 small business Server and are using a WIndwos 2003
server as a backup domain controller.

There are group policy settings for terminal server (both computer and user
settings) on the win2K3 server that do not exist on the win2K small bus
server. I would like to use some of these policy settings in our environment
if I can. It appears I can set policy settings on the backup domain
controller that I do not have on the win2K small bus server and it works -
but will a replicate erase them? How does that work when you have your
primary and backup domain controllers at different OS's?

Thanks, Brad

SBS 2000 will hold and apply the policies but they cannot (probably) be
edited via the 2000 policy editor. A similar circumstance applies to XP. The
2000 server will itself ignore the policies it does not understand but that
doesn't stop it applying same to systems which do understand them.

This KB discusses an issue related to such:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842933/en-us
"The following entry in the [strings] section is too long and has been
truncated" error message when you try to modify or to view GPOs in Windows
Server 2003, Windows XP Professional, or Windows 2000

I hope your TS is a 3rd server, neither of your DC's should have TS Apps
Mode enabled.
