On the Price/Discount tab of InventTable form, the Base Cost Price can be
manually changed, but this change is not reflected in InventItemPrice table
which is displayed in the form - going to the form by clicking on Price
button on InventTable form.

The problem we are having is that when this item is sold in a sales
quotation line, the cost price is pulled from InventItemPrice table if it
exists. If it does not exist, the cost price is pulled from the
Price/Discount tab. This is not incorrect. We want the cost price from
Price/Discount tab which has been changed.

My question is how to have the cost price updated in InventItemPrice when
the Base Cost Price in Price/Discount tab is changed so that the sales
quotation will get the right cost price? Or how to set up the item pricing
correctly?

Please advise.

Thank you very much.

Inventory costing is a bit tricky in AX.
But generally the inventory recalculation should correct all the COGS
differencies.

Hi Newbie- my answer to this question comes in two parts:

1) From my experience, AX takes the latest cost price that was updated,
whether it is on the item price form (accessed from the price button) or on
the base cost price record. Of course this is not always desirable.

2) If you wish to change a price. Leave the base cost proce alone and change
it on the item price form. This ensures you also have a viewable history of
item price changes. To enter a new price on this form, entera pending price,
click "save" and then the activate button activates the new cost price.

Thank you for all of your responses on this issue. They are definitely very
helpful. We are considering changing the process of changing item cost price.
