Cannot install AX 2009 Client

I cannot install the Ax2009 client in a server. After performing the upgrade
from 4.0SP1 to 2009SP1 in a test environment, we proceeded to do the same in
production environment.

When installing, AOS installs OK, Application installs OK... but when
installing fails, so .NET connector and Debugger aren't installed, too.

The server is a Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, SP 2, running in a
virtual machine in a Windows 2008 Virtual Server.

After many installations of AX2009 (and previous versions) of several types,
this is the first time I see this error.

And just now, in the production environment, just when everithing should go
fine, migration fails because of a so-stupid question as the client
installation...

The only information available is in the installation log files. The

Hi!

I'm having allmost same kind of difficulties. First in test phase all was
ok. Now in live environment Client install fails. Alas!
I tried to install the client into the Windows server 2008 (acts as TS) with
.net3.5Sp1 installed. The AOS is installed in another server together with
SQL 2008.

Please use this guide for doing the installation as it contains updated
information and requirements and resolution to known issues which were not in
the original guide.

(2) Have a look

(3) If you are going to install just the AX 2009 RTM version then also have
a look at

Thank you very much for those Web links. I actually had encoutered some of
them before, but it's also sometimes good to re-read.

I managed to solve this case with our Windows guy. He guided me to add the
application role into the Windows 2008 server. After that the Client
installation went fine.
