Hi,

There is a customer who has a 'Live' and 'UAT' environment. The production
environment has various companies (about 10).

What is the best way to transfer data from the 'Live' Environment to the
'UAT'?

The last time we did it we tried using backup and restore of SQL server but
this created problems with settings of Role Center, EP, Reporting Services
etc (because Live and UAT point to different servers for these services).

I think that if the AX ADmin Periodic import export too is used, it will
take long to do it per company and it is not clear in what group (i.e.
parameters, misc etc) the setup tables which effect role centers, ep, RS etc
are found in.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

We are assuming that AX software is Microsoft Dynamics AX. There is
apparently system specific settings stored in the database that would have to
be altered to make the live environment work in the test. Another option
would be using the software to import the data if there's an option for that.
And looking at the comments it would appear there is but it may take an
unacceptable amount of time. The last option is to just restore the database
on the test server under a different name and create a sql script to copy the
desired records from the live database backup to the uat database. Though
again that would require an understanding of the workings of the database to
make certain all needed records are copied to the test environment.

Dear MB,
Gee, I would love to help, but I really don't know what the problem is.
