AX4, SP2
SQL-database: WindowsServer2003, SQL-Server 2005 Standard, 7 GB RAM, size
currently 100 GB

We have since several weeks a very poor performance in AX

Reasons for sure are NOT: hardware, disk space, transaction volumes (only
140.000 sales orders, 100.000 production orders)

Maybe the SQL-database is not performing properly?

Is there any standard procedure how to analyse the performance?
Is there any (standard) functionality available (in AX or SQL)?

HFL - Have you checked out the DAX Performance Team's Blog? They have two
entries specificeally on SQL performance and AX:

http://blogs.msdn.com/axperf/archive/2008/03/10/welcome-database-configuration-checklist-part-1.aspx

Hope that gets you started. If you're not familiar with SQL, I'd suggest
checking with your partner before making changes since SQL tuning can vary
widely due to the network environment and how you use the DB.

Can you explain in detail if everything is on a poor performance , or only
posting journals or posting packingslips? Try to explain in detail. Do you
have some customisations in your AX environment?

When you provide more information maybe I or somebody else can help you. In
the past I faced many performance issues. Mostly these were related to
customisations or high volume records with a wrong index.

André
