fax Intergration

Hello All,

There is a requirement from Client to send (Fax) Purchase order to supplier
from Axapta application. Fax software(Driver) already being installed in
required workstation. All working fine in sending fax but only issue is
manually we have to enter the fax number in the dialog box then send the fax.
Can someone has some exp in picking the fax number automatically from the
vendor master? Do we need to customize the Axapta application or look for a
third party solution?

Hi,

in must situations you have to customize the reports which you will send
out with the fax software.

I.e. the GFI fax software has an printer driver which gets the fax number
over a flag (recognizable string) which must exist in the document you want
to send out.

Your fax software should have an documentation on how to tell the software
the right fax number (the flags you must provide inside the document).

Do you mean to say all the fax software does pick the fax number from the
vendor master. We dont have to do anything on the Axapta application.

Can you please explain me your last line " Providing the Flag inside the
document.

Inside your document, for GFI Fax in the first Line of the document, you
must have a recognizable string which represents the fax number (i.e.
"TO:012345676"). This meens for AX -> Print "TO:012345676" in the first
line of the report.

The fax software then scans the document for this recognizable string to
get the fax number and sends the document to this fax number.

So you must customize all reports which should be send out with the fax
software.

GFI and Tobit supports this, i don't know if you can implement this with
every other fax software.

Client does not have that fax software which you are talking about. They are
using
Windows default fax soft. Will it be possibe to pick the vendor fax number
automatically from the Vendor Master?

If you are using the windows fax you have to enter the fax number in the
dialog manually. As far as i know you can not deliver the fax number over a
parameter, inside a document or so when you are using the windows fax.
