Hi,

I don't really understand waht is your concern. Item BOM will have item type
as BOM.

Can you express more?

In standard AX On Bom designer users can view components in the BOM. I have
code in the designer where users can remove/add componenents from the
existing BOM and choose to create(save as) a new BOM. My concern is before
they save or create the BOM, i want to check if a bom already exists with the
same components.

Hi Renaissance,

In this case, I would suggest to to print the report Where-Use of BOM to
check if your component is included in which BOMs.

Hope this help.

I came across this post while searching for help on this same issue. Our
company manufactures chemicals and are constantly developing new Blends. I am
also looking for a process in AX to compare/find existing BOMs (exploding
Sub-Boms to
raw material level) to ensure we aren't recreating an existing Item or
creating a new item that at raw material level is extremely close to an
existing item.

I wondered if you had found any resolution to your issue. The post
suggesting using 'Where Used' may be helpful in a situation where the item is
only used in a few BOMs. In our case the list would be in the hundreds and
then would have to continue down a list of 'next where used' ...and then
additionally consider the line quantities of the BOM.

Any help appreciated!
