Add the -extoff switch to you ie8 shortcut icon target location (right click
ie8 icon, and update Target field to) "

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff

This will disable all your add-ons when it starts.

you can remove the -extoff switch after you find out which add on was
causing the problem.

Also when ie8 started after i used this switch, it opened to the About: page

I just changed the url like normal and it worked fine.

I discovered the bad add on.

I was the java add-on.

I disabled it, and all is well now.

im also on windows 7 os.

surely this will be patched, but until then....
