I am operating on windows vista and I keep getting a message telling me that
I have low disk space on d:. I have tried disk cleanup and defragmenting;
none of those seem to fix the problem. I also don't want to end up deleting a
bunch of programs and then I end up needing to use a program I deleted. What
are my other options in correcting this problem?

Hello Becky,

Your 'D:' drive is most likely the recovery partition installed by the OEM.
It contains the data necessary to restore your computer to factory settings
if needed.

Your operating system would be on the 'C:' partition.

Have you been doing any backups of data and saving the backups to the D
drive? This D drive should not be used for any backups. That is not what
it is intended for. If you don't have another hard drive/partition
available, then you may wish to purchase an external USB drive, or use
CD/DVDs to save backups to.

Yes...I never thought about not using d: for backups. When I did a backup
that is where it went to. Now the question is how do I go about deleting the
stuff off of the d: drive that should not be there unless it is factory
setting?

i can give you 1 idea.... go to control panel admin tools and choose
computer managment. then click on storage and disk management.

now look at the drive that your refering to. usually disk 0...

does it seem strange in any way, such as being around 40 gigs and the rest
blocked.

if that is the case, i know whats going on(serious) and it is simple to
fix the error, but not simple to fix the exploit
