Can't install Age of Empires 3 on Vista

Hello all,

I'm trying to install Age of Empires 3 on Windows Vista. I don't have either
of the expansion packs.

Running Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 installed. I also have
Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2.

When I click "Install" on the autorun menu it comes up with this notification:
"This program has known compatibility issues"
Then information about the program and location, after that:
"Age of Empires III is incompatible with this version of Windows. For more
information, contact Microsoft."

If I try clicking "Run program", it comes up with a dialog with only the
installshield symbol and "1158:" along with an OK button.

Hello Allied,

Just install AOE3 like you're used to. After installation, go to the
following link to download a patch:

http://aom.zone.com/MGS/ES/loc/patch112/EN/aoe3-112-english.exe

This patch will update your AOE3-installation, and will also make AOE3 play
on Vista. I used it myself, and AOE3 runs smoothly here now.

Hey BlueEagle,

Thanks for the help, but actually I was unable to install it. It failed
while starting the installer so I couldn't get as far as to run it.

I discovered the problem was that I was using an ISO I made out of my CD to
save the bother of putting the CD in when I wanted to play. Installing off
the CD worked perfectly, and it runs fine as well. It runs fine off my ISO I
might add.

Hi, i have a similar problem... I have an original copy of the game and
windows vista, and the problem is that the computer doesnt even read the
game, it just reads it as a cdrom... Any suggestions to my problem......Thanks

I got the same 1158 message right after I put the game in and hit install.
The game does not install at all. I've gone to several different sites
suggesting all kinds of stuff but nothing worked. My video driver is up to
date, and so is everything else. I even thought I had a bad disk drive so I
tried installing Age of Mythology onto the computer and it worked perfectly.
What is the deal with AOE3 on this computer? I installed it perfectly on 3
other computers. The funny thing is, this computer is the best one. Doesn't
make any sense to me. Running XP Home Edition.

Hi, i got a similar problem.
I can install AOE3 but at the end of the installation it says "error 1935"
and it starts rolling back. Then I get an error 1603 saying there was a fatal
error during the installation.
Patches don't work since I can't install the game

I have vista and everything is up to date.
I have visited a lot of sites and I've tried out almost everything.

If anybody knows anything about this, be so kind to let me know

when i download age of empires 3 it gets right to the end and then doesnt

Hello friends!

I got the same problem as DonDiego. I'm running Windows Vista 64-bit and I
just can't INSTALL Age of Empires III (So no patches will save me).

Does anyone know what can I do?

I installed it on my Vista, and it said the same thing, however, i loaded it
anyway, and it runs fine, no problem

ive been playing age of empires and i cant get on to the es online only lan
but id really like to know how can i play on es online it keeps saying es
does not support my version any ideas
