Example fails with error "0x20d6 No superior reference"

Any leads will be appreciated. While performing the steps in "Active Directory Application Mode Step-by-Step Reviewer's Guide", all is well until I get to the step on page 26 where it says to add the conatcts object class via the ldifde tool. Following is an excerpt from the command window.

CN=Configuration,DC=X" #schemaNamingContext

Add error on line 1: Operations Error
The server side error is: 0x20d6 No superior reference has been configured for t
he directory service. The directory service is therefore unable to issue referra
ls to objects outside this forest.

0 entries modified successfully.

I suspect you picked up the DC=X from the inetOrgPerson example on the
previous page
