But, now it just keeps happening every once in a while and
I go ahead and change it.
I must be doing something (or not doing something) to have
this keep happening. Can anyone tell me what I am doing
wrong?

To get Access to rebuild it:
1. Create a new (blank) database.
2. Import all the objects from the old one, i.e.:
File | Get External Data | Import
and choose "Select All" from each tab of the window.
At step 2, you may wish to click the Advanced button, and also import any
custom toolbars, import/export specifications, etc.
