You seem a little naive about the accounting software world. This is how
accounting software (other than shrink wrap) is done. A company sells a (in
the old days dbase) database accounting package with source to a consultant
who customizes it for a client. Accounting is a function which is very
specialized from business to business. It is extremely common for an
intermediary (the consultant) to customize the package. There are
literally tens of companies selling Access based code for this purpose. If

BTW, the "good people" make a fair bit of money on the deal. I paid about
$4,000 for the Access based accounting package I am customizing. The SQL
version is $10K and the consultant usually pays for EACH copy sold (plus
their markup and consulting fees), so all involved make out. Is this (U.S.)
a great country or what?

I can't tell you which are good but just such an impartial listing is
available at my web site.
