I'm current setting up a split db with the front and back
end on an NT server. We have been forced to give the user
full access to that folder to allow the lock file to be
created/edited/deleted as necessary. This, however,
allows the same user to delete or move the file using
windows explorer. Not good. Novell has a way to allow
user access yet hide the files from the user using what
they call "file scan". How can this be done in NT or what
is the rest of the world doing with this wide open
security. I spent 2 days working with Mircosoft with no
satifactory answers.

Thanks for your help.

Have you tried asking this question in a Win NT group? This sounds more like their area.

The Win NT groups start with: microsoft.public.windowsnt.
