I have a simple report generating Access 97 database. This database only
has around 400 records in it. I have a simple query which pulls all data
from a single table based upon Company Name, Start Date, and End Date. When
I run the query, the datasheet is displayed immediately. When I run the
report that is based upon this query, the status bar says "Formatting Page,
Press CTRL+Break To Stop" and access just hangs. But it does not show up as
[Not Responding] in the task manager. I can hit CTRL+BREAK and access
returns to normal, but does not display my report. This has happened to
every one of these reports (12 of them). This database is around 6 months
old and has worked fine up until 2 weeks ago. I have made zero changes and
zero code is involved. I have tried creating a new database and importing
those reports, I have tried copying and pasting those reports, I have
upgraded the database to 2000, I have upgraded the database to XP. In all 3
versions, the same thing happens. I have scanned the MDB file with the
latest virus scanning software. I can view the report in Design View and
Page Layout View, but not in Print Preview. The printer is the same, the
printer driver is the same. I have used the Report Wizard to create the
same reports and they work (I have not done all my fancy formatting and
aligning yet).

I can recreate all these reports, but it will be very time consuming. If
anyone has seen this before and/or knows of a fix, please please help me.

Thanks,

Tedd

Tedd,

Unfortunately, I'm having the same problem. The query I'm working with
sends back 23 records. When I go to preview the corresponding report, it
wants to print the same chart 23 times. This all started when I added the
query name to the Record Source field on the Report properties. I had to do
this since I wanted to print the parameters of the query in the page header
section.

I wish I had a solution for you. Sorry I can't help.

I cannot offer anything immediate, but your database must be small with only
1 table of 400 rows, I you EMail it to me I would be willing to spend
sometime experimenting with it.

I just figured it out. I have one field on the report called memProblem. I
have made ZERO changes to the tables or the reports. I just started
deleting fields from the report and adding them back one at a time until it
failed. When I got to this field the report failed. So, I went into all
the original reports, delete this field, and simply re-added it. I have no
idea what caused this or why simply deleting and re-adding the exact same
field would make any difference, but now all of the reports work.

Thanks,

Tedd
