I am looking into replication to achieve unconnected site
synchronisation for a project I am working on. I keep
seeing references to the replication manager.

We have access 2000 standard, I looked in the FAQ and it
says the manager is available in 97 & 95 developer
additions no mention of 2000 since the FAQ is dated at
98. Did this trend continue to 2000? Or will I have
access this replication manager already.

If not is it possible to buy this seperately without
purchasing the entire development suite. I assume this
will be used on each site, so would I need 3 licenses for
the 3 sites, or would my standard office licenses cover
the installation of this as well?

thanks

Rich

Sorry, you need the suite -- one copy since it supports redistribution.

But replication will NOT work on unconnected sites -- only connected or
occasionally connected ones.

okay, that seems a little too high an investment to
support the volume of data this project is manipulating.
So I'll probably make do with manual synchronisation using
the standard access package, I might try to use this
briefcase method.

I have another question, but i'll post a new topic.

I don't know what happend to my last reply.

I notice they have SQL Server 7.0 on the network here, I
am not familiar with this at all but I know it
incorporates replication somehow. Is it possible the
repication manager is included with this? Purchase of the
dev edition is too high an investment for the volume of
data we are putting in this database.

cheers.
