We are trying to set up internet replication on IIS 6.0 (W2003).
Just thought I should let you guys know what we have found.
Error nr. 1: Failure to write to internet handle
This was solved by adding the mime types .tmp and .msg to the dropbox
folder
IIS only processes know mime types.
Error nr. 2: Internet Synchronizer exited unexpectedly on the
server.........
This is part where the server stops at 'GET /Sync/mstrai40.exe......'
In IIS cgi programs are disabled by default, you can enable cgi programs
in the Server Extentions Administrator
So after a normal installation procedure and the above two settings internet
synchronisations works.....
almost. That is most of the time it works but sometimes it just stops with
some 'internal internet error, we are still
working on that.
Hope this helps, comments are welcome and of course any futher tips on this
issue.
Rik

Did you get this to work eventually? I'm still on
the "Internet Synchronizer exited unexpectedly" stage!
I've installed all the Jet service packs I can get my
hands on, and now I'm worried that I shouldn't have. Mind
you, it didn't work BEFORE I installed all the SP's too!
I'm pretty sure that I've got the cgi permissions set
okay, since I can use that bigpost.exe program to
successfully write a data file to the synchronizer
virtual folder.
Did you discover any other problems/solutions? Thanks.

No, this is all we did and it works fine now.
Maybe one suggestion: when unstalling the replication manager not all files
are removed (check Program Files/... ( I don't remember the directory
name)). So do this by hand, then reinstall the original replication manager.
Don't forget to copy the reinstalled mstrai40.exe to your script directory.
If you cannot find it just get it from the installation disk (check version
numbers)
Of course start with building a new replication master and replica's (use
the 'unreplicate' tool from http://trigeminal.com/ if you don't have the
original database)
Note: Jet is still the latest service pack, just don't use this one:
