Is there anyway of giving focus to a query which has been
run from code as it's always being shown behind any open
forms.

is there a way I could set focus in a similar manner to
the [forms]![formname].setfocus method?

I would make a form based on the query, thus displaying the data on the
form.

Then, you could use the familiar syntax that you used below.
