Hey there,
I have a database that I compiled, so its an .accdbe and I wanted to
distribute it to everyone in the company. Can I put the .accdbe on a shared
drive and set up a shortcut on each users desktop so they can all access the
database. They will need to make changes to linked tables in SQL Server but
thats fine.
Then whenever I need to make changes I can make them, compile it, copy over
the file to the shared drive and everyone is good to go again.
I was reading about Tony Toews Auto Front End Updater and thats great and all,

but is that the ONLY solution, other than each user having a copy of the
database on their own pc's?
Can't they just have a shortcut?
Please lend me your thoughts, thanks!!

Yes they can just have a short cut. I have 8 databases set up as front end
back ends, theres a short cut on the server that users can either run from
the server or copy to their computer. I have the shortcut put a copy of the
FE on their computer. So whenever I make programmatic changes to the FE I
just copy a new FE on the server. Which the shortcut opens. If you are
running Access 2007, dont forget to set up trusted locations for your users
and make sure your shortcut copies the FE to the trusted location.

You can, but it's a terrible idea!

Having multiple users sharing a single database is usually a recipe for
disaster. Splitting into a front-end and back-end is strongly recommended.

That sounds like the same as the Auto FE Updater then.
