Hello. In a fairly simple application I use the following line:

DoCmd.SendObject acSendNoObject, , acFormatHTML, _
strEmail, , , strMessageSubject, strMessageBody

strEmail is the message body (about 200 chars max). Everytime I run it
Access hangs on me (You know the message saying that Access will now close.
The error message says that an error occurred with the Kernel). Same thing
with the customer's computer. I simply want to sent a simple email using the
default email editor.

Am I using the right technique?

Daniel,

The sendobject method worked lovely in Access 97 for
sending emails, but in 2000 it will produce the error you
described and cause Access to shut down.

MS have indicated this to be a bug and released 2 papers
as solutions. Unfortunately those solutions did not quite
work correctly. The size of the Body Text or Header text
actually makes not a lot of difference (believe me, I
tried every combination from 10 characters to 2000
characters in each before giving up).

MS have now released the following paper in an effort to
overcome the problem. You will have to alter the code
slightly to accomodate your personal needs, but the main
change is that instead of using the sendobject automation,
this uses an Outlook object and therefore it may not wait
for a successful send prior to returning to Access.

If you still have problems I can supply you with code
that I use on our network, and it works!!

Hope this helps

Does anyone know if this has been fixed in XP?
