Hi all

I have taken delivery of the first PCs with Office 2013 and am trying to
iron out the Access wrinkles.

We use an Access database split into front and back ends.
With previous versions of Access, it has been possible to simply create
a shortcut to the front end file to launch the app.
If I browse to the front end file in Windows Explorer, it is clear that
Access is not associated with the mdb file. However, if I launch Access
and navigate to the front end, the Access icon is shown agains the file
and it launches OK.

Having Googled, there was some info about pre-2000 databases (and this
may have been originally created in Access 97). So I did a SaveAs to
create another front end file specifically in Access 2000 format.
Windows/Access still do not appear to associate this mdb with Access, as
the icon is still blank sheet.

Can anyone suggest a solution please, such that the front end can be run
from a short-cut and launch Access?

The back-end was created around the same time, so there may be other
issues which haven't yet surfaced. Any advice on this would be
appreciated also.

Thanks

Phil

OK this issue has been resolved.
For some reason, Windows simply hadn't associated MDB files with the
Access program.
Having done this, the front end launched via a shortcut no problem.
