As part of a project I'm working on, I'm writing up some documentation, and
I'd like to
include a copy of the Relationship diagram for the project's Access 2K
database in
a Word document. I've tried the Alt-PrintScreen approach, and it includes
all the
extraneous bits of the "window" that was captured in addition to the
Relationship View.

Does anyone know of a method of exporting only the relationship view from
Access
so that it can be inserted into a Word doc ? Thanks in advance. (I'm
using Office 2000).

Since you are working in Access 2000 you can save your relationship as a
report in Access thus eliminating the need for sending into Word. To do this
open your relationships window and select File | Print Relationships from
the drop-down menu.

Thanks for your reply G.V., and even though your suggestion does indeed
work, I don't want
to eliminate the need to insert it into Word. Because the document I'm
creating serves as
documentation for others unfamiliar with the project, I want to insert a
copy of the
database schema into the Word document for reference. So, I'd still like to
find a way
to export the relationship diagram into a format that can be inserted into a
Word document.

Thanks in advance for any additional suggestions.

Brian

A possible solution is to use a graphic package and crop the image acquired
by Alt + PrintScreen before inserting into the Word doc.

Well I've tryed several ways to get the report to be called up properly in
Word. This is quite a challenge. I will conquer...

Maybe someone else has a real simple solution. I've tryed making it html,
rtf, a snapshot. To no avail.

Do you have the program Image Composer? It comes with FrontPage 2000? If so,
you can cut out the relationship area from the rest of the print screen
stuff and save as a jpg. Would that help? You can do this with paintbrush as
long as you can get all the info to show and then you can cut the info. Then
you just repaste it back into a blank Paint Brush window and save in bmp or
jpg format. Just a thought.

Van,

Thanks for your suggestion - I think this is also what GV was referring to
in his post (just before
yours). Cropping the original snapshot using some other tool, thereby
creating an image file
of some type might be the only viable solution at this point.......I'll
probably try that route, and
if anyone comes up with a better/more direct solution - please share your
find.

Thanks again for the responses.

The problem with a screen grab is the lack of resolution that will
become apparent if you try to print the Image at larer sizes.
An alternative is to use the PrintUtilites on my site. Create the
Relationship report as normal. Then use the PrintUtilites to export this
report to an EMF(Enhanced Metafile). You can then load this EMF directly
into word. It is fully scaleable and resolution independant. You can
even edit the EMF in WOrd Draw.
