I am a first time user (and learner) of Access (2000). I created a database
(.mdb) with forms, queries, tables, and reports, etc. How can I give other
users the ability to run the database over a network? (machines are NT, 2K,
98se, ME)

What if they only have Access 97?

If they don't have any version of Access, I seem to recall from my research
that I can enable others to get to the data, edit it, and input more, but
not edit the forms, tables, etc. Is that correct? How?

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
Eric

Eric,

On the Tools menu, point to Database Utilities, and then click Database
Splitter.

All your tables will be put into one database (the Data, or "Back-End"
database),
and all the rest in a second (the Program, or "Front-End" database).

Using Access 2000, convert the Back-End database to Access 97 format.

Then Front ends which are in Access97 will be able to attach to the BackEnd
tables. Your Access 2000 front-end will also be able to attach to the
A97 tables.

I know of no straightforward way for users without Access installed to
access
your data. I doubt that you would want them to, using anything but Access.

Hi

Also, Your back end should only contain those tables that are required to be shared accross the
network. If you are using any tables that are being used specific to an individual station then
these should not be sent to the backend.
