Can't remove editing privilege from Google forms

Hello,
When I create a Google form and try to send it to my students, they have editing privileges. I can only see the "editor" option when I try to send them the form. What is wrong? Students are in my Google classroom, but they cannot access the form unless I send it to them. Once I send the form, they can edit it.
I appreciate any help you can give.
