Something is seriously wrong! The following is
recreateable.

This is a problem I have been fighting for awhile now
I create a brand new data base with one table.
I create a brand new form and add a combo box for a state
field in which I use Auto Expand. Limit to list = true
Autoexpand = true

Nothing tricky and no other controls - and it works fine.
I can enter the first letter and Auto expand works great.
I can type in the entire entry or I can select it from the
list. Works great Just as advertised. I save the form.
Go back in and the the control is still fine.

Until I close the database (I have compacts on close set
but I also tried it without) and reopen the form. Then
the combo box will NOT auto expand and you can't type a
matching entry you must select if from the list. Even
though the NOTHING else has changed.

Does anyone have any ideas whatsoever?

Man, I do this all the time. No problems. Create a new database with a
single table containing rows where you want to set the state name or code,
your list of states table, and one form with the combo box. If it breaks,
zip it and email it to me, and I'll have a look. Jo...@Viescas.com
