Some simple newsgroup etiquette.
NEVER EVER attach ANYTHING to a newsgroup message.
First, most people are still using dial up connections and do not want to take the time to download files. They get so annoyed, they
ignore the message and you'll never get an answer. Those of us with high speed connections don't like to waste the bandwidth.
Second, no one in their right mind will ever open an attachment anymore. There are too many viruses going around.
Occasionally, someone may take an interest and request a database. Then, and only then, do you email it directly to the person.
Part of using the newsgroups is to FOCUS on your problem, one piece at a time. If you're having problems with code, describe what is
working, what isn't working, and then copy and paste only the relevant piece in to a message so we can all look at it in plain text.
Do that and you'll find all kinds of people willing to help.

Hello,
I have a series of 100 lbls and txtboxes that I'd like to have the user view only
those which have data and values associated with them. Those which are not
populated, I would like them to remain invisible.
I'm also trying to chg the caption property of each to correspond to a record in
another table, and was using a qry to do this. It works for some of the lbls (15
of them), but not all (I have 18 entries).
I have attached the front and backend dbs which I cannot get the desired result.
Help! If anyone can suggest a way to fix either problem, I would be very
appreciative.
Here is a brief listing and description of the items in the 2 dbs I've attached:
1. DBBACKEND:
tblSecurityDef - I want to use SecurityLevel field to rename the labels on
sfrmSecurityMatrix
tblSecurityMatrix - tbl of 100 "cols" that the user will enter info
2. DBFRONTEND:
qrySecurityDef - simply queries all the items in SecurityLevel field of
tblSecurityDef
qrySecurityMatrix - qrys the info from the tblSecurityMatrix
sfmrSecurityMatrix - form of 100 lbls & txtboxes that I want initially
invisible and then the fields to be visible & renamed based on corresponding
vlaues from qrySecurityDef. I want the same number of fields visible as there
are records in the qry.
*In the code of sfrmSecurityMatrix, I have added funtionality to the event of
Load, and this is area I would like assistance. I can't figure out why the 2
loops I've setup won't:
1. make all the lbls & txtboxes invisible with this line of code:
Me.Controls(strVisLblColNum).Visible = False
2. chg the caption property of ALL the lbls that have an associated value from
the qrySecurityDef
Me.Controls(strLblCaptionColNum).Caption = rst![SecurityLevel]
It works for the first 29 items, then won't for the rest
Thanks,
Rob

It is NEVER inappropriate to let newcomers know what the rules are and to remind "regulars" when they forget.
Just try to do it a litter nicer than I do. I get very frustrated when I donate my time which I normally get $100 an hour for and
people out here think it's their God-given-right to get "free" help and don't need to follow the rules. It's why I used to spend a
hour a day answering questions and now only show up for 10 or 15 minutes a week.
Best of luck.

With this attitude, you'd better stay in your cave, and continue getting
your $100 an hour, and save us your rants and pathetic attitude, and
bragging about how much you get paid.
No one here cares about what you think, and us other people are willing
to help for those who need the help without the attitude, and for the
people who abuse that, we simply move on without such attitude.
I'd plonk you but twits like yourself that hide behind fake handles will
just reappear under a new guise. Perhaps your next incarnation should be

"It is a condition of life that all things are a gift. A child, a
freindship, a job, a cutomer, a house , a stereo, a conversation, a
business, any and all material or intangible things of life. Each day we
must remember these things by the constant reminder of their presence and
the circle of life that they come from, as one does not survive without the
other."
"A gift should never be taken for granted, and should always be taken care of
with the greatest respect. One should always bow to humble oneself when
receiving a gift. This is one of the most important rules in life and cannot
be disputed by any mortal being."(At one time this was a custom of all
peoples, but like all important things of life, they have been forgotten by
others.)
"We are not supposed to be conditional, life hands us conditions that we
must accept. That being, that all things in life are a gift."
"A child is born with this knowledge, and gifts his parents with a
unconditional love regardless. It is the parents that teach their children
conditions of life and eventually teach them to be conditional. Teaching
them there is a left or a right , a right from a wrong, an up from a down
etc... Instead of teaching examples of life and how they are all connected
in the circle of life."
"The circle of life has to remain humble, or it will not remain a circle."
"All decisions in life concern the circle and must be taken in careful
thought and consideration to prevent distortion of the circle. In doing so
we humble ourselves to the circle for the circle, a gift from our creator."
