I am using Access 97 to try and link or import paradox tables created using
the Borland Database Engine v5.01. I have encountered two problems while
trying to import the tables.
First, some of the paradox table names are too long and Access will not
recognize them. Is there a way of modifying the Paradox driver that Access
uses in order to allow Access to read the longer file names?
Second, Access will only link or import some of the paradox tables. If it
can not link to them it gives the error message (#3274) 'External data not
in expected format'. I have not been able to find any similarities between
the files that I am capable of importing and those that I can not import.
They are all paradox 5 tables (either clustered or heap). Some of the
tables are indexed and some are not, this seems not to affect my ability to
import them. The only possibility I can think of is that the tables to
which I can link have been created in an older version of the BDE (earlier
than version 5, perhaps the version which shipped with Delphi 2). Does
anyone have a solution to this problem?
Thanks
Rob
