IPF in Rpcrt4.dll - Access97/Outlook2K call

I have developed an app in Access 97 and packaged it with ODE 97 and
WISE using the Sagekey Runtime scripts. It installs and runs fine on
most PCs.

I have installed it at one particular client and had it running
nicely. They have Win98SE and Office 2K. However, I had to install
Access 97 on their PC to do some troubleshooting and since then I get
MSACCESS caused an Invalid Page Fault in module RPCRT4.dll. This
occurs at the point where I am scanning the Outlook Inbox for certain
emails, only a second or two after the app starts.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my app and Office 2K and
Access 97. I've even wiped Windows and reinstalled it but to no
avail. I've tried copying the dll from a machine on which the app
works and I've installed the latest DCOM patch. Something tells me
it's not just that one dll causing the problem!

Yesterday I finally lost my willpower and called Microsoft, only to be
told they no longer support Office/ODE 97!!

So what next? Do I upgrade my app to Access 2K, something I've been
avoiding mainly due to the bagging it gets on these newsgroups? Would
this even fix the problem?

I'd really like to understand what this IPF is telling me before I
make any drastic moves. Does anyone have any ideas about it?
