Hello Douglas,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Direct-Access Product Support for Value
Added
Providers (VAP). My name is Victor and I will be helping to assist you.

I'm glad to hear that you have obtained a patch from Microsoft for the
shut
down problems. Please let us know how that works out.

In the meantime, there is something else that we may want to try if you
are
using a modem to access the Internet. I have come across this once
before.
We should define in the Internet Explorer connection settings to
"Disconnect when a connection may no longer be needed"
This setting may be accessed by performing the following steps...

1) right-click on the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop and choose
"Properties"

2) click on the "Connections" tab and highlight the default connection

3) click on "Settings"

4) click on "Advanced" under "Dial-up settings"

5) add a check in the box next to "Disconnect when connection may no
longer
be needed"

6) click OK

Before shutting down the computer, make sure to close Internet Explorer
and
Outlook Express.
I hope this helps. Please let us know how this works out.

Best Regards,
Victor Zapata
