I have configured a few networks with MS Proxy Server version 2.0 and I
have experienced the system Auto Dialing appearantly on its own. For
example one customer has had reports from his service provider that he
is using his internet connection more than 400 hours per month. The
only way this could happen is if Proxy server is connecting to the
service provider 24 hrs per day. Unfortunately my customer only man's
the office between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm... The question of why
the server is dialing when no one is there is easy to see but totally
unexplainable. I have set the hours for dialing out to be limited to
the period between 9a.m. and 5 p.m. and disabled all proxy clients
except those absolutely necesary, but still the server is dialing out
when no one is using the internet. Can anyone explain why?
