Hi, thanks for this really quick response.

Answers to your questions.

It is a new setup. The gateway mailserver is running a product call MDaemon by
Deerfield Technologies.

Mdaemon has full support for multiple domains, and also for gateway accounts,
where all the mail destined for one specific domain is hosted inside one box.

We have two other sites running with exactly the same config, also MS SBS 4.5
running via a gateway account on Mdaemon, and have'nt had any problems there.

Btw, I have also tried to find an answer on technet, but came up with
nothing, not sure if there are no reported problems like this, or if I did
the search wrong.

Hi Dirk,

I have a couple of questions for you. Is this a new setup or was this
working at one time but not now?
If it is a new installation do you know if the ISP is using a software
product called "VOP"?
VOP is incapable of taking SMTP mail and not parsing it into the
mailbox.
If VOP is being used you may need to try and created individual boxes at

the ISP and link them with SMTP address.
I hope that helps!

Thanks

Hi, the scenario:

Running Exchange Server 5.5 on SBS 4.5
Connecting to our ISP via a ISDN Connection, and periodically download
all
the mail in the gateway mailbox to the Exchange Server.

The Exchange Server is then SUPPOSED to deliver it to the respective
recipients, but the problem is that Exchange does that quite fine, but
say
for example the domain is joe.com, and there is a message address to
per...@joe.com, with person2, person3 and person4 cc'd.

Now you have one mail message to four people (coming in via the
Internet.)
The gateway server keeps the 4 messages, one per person in the box
waiting
for the next download, but when Exchange does the actual download, it
seem
to reread the sent to list, and deliver the message to EACH of the
people
in the sent to list, of each message.

So now person1 - person4 will each receive 4 copies of this message.

We have used several products for connecting to the gateway server,
including MS POP Connector for Exchange, POPBeamer, and Email Forwarding

Server. It happens on all these products.

We have tried contacting Microsoft in South Africa, but when the support

chappie heard the word POP connector he said "NOT SUPPORTED NOT
SUPPORTED",
so now I have sold my client a supposedly nice Microsoft solution, and
Microsoft is pulling their noses up in helping us.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Dirk,

First off Microsoft does not support configuration of third party
products.
Although I have found this in our KB, See if this can help you.
(Again these are notes taken from another issue which i think is
relevent
to your case)
Customer has identified the problem (not correctly pulling mail) as a
bug
with MDAEMON. A
hotfix was produced by MDAEMON, and the problem was resolved.

Some Exchange side configuration was performed:
1. joe.com (domain that will use MDAEMON) needs a FQDN. There is no
current
record on the NSLOOKUP.
2. IMS properties need to be configured: Under Connections tab, under
message
delivery, select email domain and add IFORSRV.COM and point to it's IP
address. Check use ETRN box.
3. Additional IMS configuration: Under Routing tab, add joe.com for
inbound.
4. Add joe.com to DNS as A and MX records.

hope this helps
