Hello Josh,

thank you for your fast answer. However, i do not use Word as e-mail
editor.
Do you have another tip?

Also, i forgot to say that when Outlook consumes so much cpu cycles
(about
50%, not 100%), i cannot close Outlook by File/Close and logoff, but
have to
use task manager to kill the application. Thereafter, cpu usage on my
workstation and on the Exchange server returns to normal again (less
than
5%).

And: Is there an Office 2000 SR1 in german already?

Thank you again in advance,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

SYMPTOMS
========

Sometimes when you use Word as your e-mail editor in Microsoft Outlook
2000, the
central processing unit (CPU) usage of your computer system may increase
to
almost 100 percent and there may be a lot of disk activity. This problem
is
most
likely to occur when you have more than one e-mail message open at a
time
and
are doing a lot of switching between open messages.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1
(SR-1).

To obtain SR-1, click the article number below to view the article in
the
Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Q245025 OFF2000: How to Obtain and Install Microsoft Office 2000
Service
Release 1 (SR-1)

To temporarily work around this problem, turn off the Use Microsoft Word
to
edit
e-mail messages option in Microsoft Outlook. To do this, follow these
steps:

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

2. On the Mail Format tab, clear the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail
messages
check box.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at
the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft
Office
2000 SR-1.

Have a great day

Hello everybody,

we have some public folders on our Exchange 5.5/SP3 NT4/SP5 server. I i
right-click a public folder and choose Properties, Outllok seems to
hang. I
killed it after about 30 minutes without reaction.

Second, my own outlook 2000 (none of the other PCs show that symptom)
causes
about 50% cpu stress both on my workstation (OUTLOOK.EXE is the process
causing it) AND on the Exchange server (STORE.EXE is the one there). I
have
tried the following:

1. Performing full backups of Exchange with NTBackup
2. Using ISINTEG and ESEUTIL to check priv, pub, and ds stores. No
errors
appeared.
3. Using ISINTEG to fix problems (despite of no errors were displayed)
4. Starting my outlook with all those command line switches to
recalculate
free/busy times, views, reminders and so on.
5. Searched TechNet.

Nothing helped. Can you help, please? Thanks in advance.
