SYMPTOMS
========
Backup stops because of a communications error.
CAUSE
=====
When backing up to NULL or buffering the read bytes from HRBackupRead,
the
client and server may stop responding (hang) while waiting on each
other. A
communications error will be produced, causing the backup to be halted.
This problem is seen more often in single processor environments than in
multi-processor environments.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange
Server
version 5.5.
Seagate Software overwrites the EDBBCLI.DLL with an older version, this
is
what is causing your issue.

We are running NT4 sp6a with Exchange 5.5 sp2. When we attempt t run
an
"across the network backup" we are getting an 8010 error.
"The Microsoft Exchange services returned 102 from a call to
BackupRead()
data"
We have just reverted from Seagate Verias due to server lockups. I
think
both are RPC related but I can not put my finger on it.
Can anyone help me with this.
