I have recently changed our mail system to Microsoft Exchange. All
workstations are using Windows 98 with the Outlook 2000 client, and about
1/2 fail to resolve the servername/username. It seems the w/s's that are
failing are those that previously had Office 97 (with Outlook 97/98) and
have been upgraded. All the workstations with new installs of Office 2000
(Outlook 2000) work fine. On the failing workstations, there are NO ip
connectivity issues present other than what has been described.
Additionally, if I use an IP address for the server instead of the server
name, it resolves properly when I click checkname. Obviously though then
the servername is there vs. the IP and launching Outlook causes the same
problem. I have looked at most of the tech docs finding no solution. In
checking the RPC, it is the same order on failing workstations as on the
working ones. I have changed the order and it still fails. Please help.
