Using employees and equipment as work resources simultaneously...

Hi,

I am interested in using Project to track employee and equipment use
and availability. I have tasks that will require equipment and
employees simultaneously and others that will only require one of the
two resources. How can I allocate both resources simultaneously
without making it seem like the task will complete in half the time? I
was thinking about doubling the duration of the task, but this seems
like a confusing and poor method to do this.

I am also wondering if there are any things that I can do to ensure
that equipment allocations are not changed by mistake or if there are
any things I should NOT do in order to insure this (leveling?).
